WEST END FIRE & RESCUE CO.

"BEST IN THE WEST SINCE 1925"

Engine 465 1975-2006

1975 Mack CF600 1000 GPM/500 GWT Pumper purchased new in 1975. Refurbished in 1990 by Swab.
Old 465 saw plenty of fire during its tour of duty, notably the infamous "block burners" of the 1970s & 1980s
not only in Mahanoy City, but all of Northern Schuylkill County. Its last call was during the June 2006 flooding, when it
pumped for over 10 hours straight, removing over 25,000 gallons of water from the basement at the
Service Electric Cable TV headquarters. It is still owned by the company and makes appearances at parades,
musters, trainings, and fire prevention events.

ENGINE 5 1950-1975

1950 MACK L MODEL 750 GPM/300 GWT PUMPER. Housed on July 15, 1951, the old Engine 5 served
the company faithfully from 1950 until 1976 when it was replaced by the 1975 Mack. It was then sold to the
Quakake Fire Co. of Rush Township where it was used on and off until 1998. In 1999, the company, led
by Mike Kitsock, purchased the engine back. It was then repainted and fully restored to its original in-service
condition. It is used today for parades, musters, and other events. It is a crowd favorite wherever it goes,
especially with the older generation.

SQUAD 468 2004-2008

1986 CHEVY SUBURBAN was purchased from a private individual and rebuilt mostly in station by our members.
Its main purpose was to serve as a personnel carrier/support unit for incidents. It was also equipped with some
hand tools, a Hurst Multi-Tool, 2- Scott 4500 SCBA, traffic control, and EMS gear.

SQUAD 468 1989-2004

1978 CHEVY BLAZER was very versatile, serving as both a off-road rescue and QRS Unit. It was equipped
with a Hurst Multi-Tool, air chisel, rope rescue, generator, lighting, and EMS equipment. It purpose was
to go off road and places where a normal apparatus would not go. It was taken out of service in 2004.

RESCUE 993 1987-1997

1987 FORD/EASTERN HEAVY RESCUE. This rig served us for 10 years before being replaced by the
1999 KME. It had a walk in crew box, generator, 5 bottle 4500lb cascade system, and preconnected air,
hydraulic, and electric reels. It was sold to the Dauntless Hook & Ladder Co. of Selinsgrove in 1999.

RESCUE 993 1980-1987

1979 FORD/EVF LIGHT RESCUE TRUCK.  With our 1975 Mack Pumper serving as an engine/rescue, the company decided in 1979 to purchase a dedicated rescue vehicle. The unit was well equipped with a 3 bottle 4500lb cascade system, generator/portable lighting, Hurst hydraulic rescue tools, 4-Survivair SCBA, rope rescue, water rescue equipment, forcible entry tools, and EMS gear.

ENGINE 5 1935-1950

1935 BUFFALO 500 GPM HOSE WAGON. This engine was the first all-white colored engine in company
history. It saw many major fires, including the Memorial Day 1945 Fire that destroyed several blocks. The
engine had suffered some damage at this fire including a shattered windshield and melted lens covers due
to the intense heat.

ENGINE 5 1927-1935

1917 American La France Triple Combination Pumper- This engine was purchased used from the local
American La France dealer in 1927. It replaced an loaner engine from the Good American Hose Co. who
gave our company the engine shortly after its formation in 1925.
