CONFINED SPACE RESCUE OPERATIONS JULY 2009
Recently, several responders successfully completed the PA Fire Academy Confined Space Rescue Operations Class that was conducted on the grounds of the Schuylkill County Fire School. The use of all the needed equipment, plus different methods of rigging, haul systems, support, and different methods of rescuing/recovering a victim from a hazardous confined space area were all demonstrated and practiced during several scenarios. Shown below are a few of the various parts from the exercises:


TRENCH RESCUE CLASS November 2006
Over several weekends, members of the West End, along with rescue personnel from Yorkville and Orwigsburg, completed the PA State Fire Academy Trench Rescue Class held at the County Fire School Grounds. This was the initail joint training of the newly formed Schuylkill County Rescue Task Force. Responders were instructed on the awareness, safety, and operations involving a trench rescue incident.
Vehicle Fire Class August 2006
Recently, a PA State Fire Academy Class on vehicle fires and related emergencies was held. The techniques of fighting car fires, dealing with hazards, forcible entry, apparatus placement, and the use of foam was tought by the instructors.
